My Poor Datsue-ba

[edit]

Once again another poorly written entry in the Japanese Mythology section that is both uncited and only references a video game as to why this should be notable. If this were a Popular Culture Wiki (as filtered through the eyes of a 12 year old Gaijin, oh you hairy barbarians!) I could understand. I could even understand if it was a thoughtful paragraph, with citations, as to why Datsue-ba's place in whatever anime/manga/video game being referenced was important. But -- and I say this nicely knowing people with Asperger syndrome can lead healthy, useful lives -- but these obsessive, compulsive lists, this insistence on including every little trivial appearance of a Japanese archetype in the last 10-15 years, never cited, never written like an encyclopedia entry, but somehow this is suppose to be important and noteworthy, somehow I'm suppose to give this equal status alongside academic articles and referenced notes and people who actually give a d*mn about this material. There's a reason Plato said any male not old enough to have grown a beard might not be the best people to go to when asking about wisdom: the same can be said, modified for gender and education of course, here. Wiki's open inclusion policy of anyone who can find a keyboard while sitting in front of the computer is vaguely impressive, the way that the short bus is vaguely impressive, but all it does is create a mountain of work for anyone else who cares about Japanese mythology.
