[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the group within this page, Day6, they are just debuted, their profile or information are not officially promoted hard by their company because of some reasons. In other words, fans of them are hard to know more about this group. Thus, this page is really needy, neither to let fans know more nor to promote the group. It's definitely a important route to show how talented and lovable Day6 is.119.246.111.149 (talk) 12:11, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because this page is just like any other Korean band's wiki page, except that they're still new in the industry. Some of their members have had notable presence in the media (e.g. Jaehyung). Considering that the band is still new, there is a lot more that can be added in the days to come. Having it speedily deleted is just ridiculous, how else can this page be expanded then? --NotReallyBlonde (talk) 13:32, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Sources: what does and doesn't count
[edit]I thought it would be best just to say this now- Anything from soompi, and allkpop can not be used as a source unless it it talking about an award the group received at an awards show. Since those list usually are very hard to find an allowance was made but every other time those sites are considered unreliable, because on their own websites both have messages in saying they do not guarantee all their information is true. They are therefore considered to be gossip news sites, and using them would be like citing facts from a tabloid magazine.Peachywink (talk) 14:53, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
- Maybe for dating rumors and such but they fairly accurately report concert and tour dates. MoTheMintster (talk) 04:53, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- better sources exist for concert dates, so they still aren't considered reliable sources for those circumstances.Peachywink (talk) 08:01, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Day6
[edit]- Hi Dr. K.
Regarding this edit to Day6, I notice that you've removed a large amount of information about the roles of the band members and that you've change the spelling of their names, adding hyphens "-" to all their names and changing some uppercase to lowercase in multi-part names. However, the profiles on the band's official web site [1] doesn't include dashes in names, I can't find any English RS that has their names as you've changed them, and the information about the band members roles (and the band members names) that was in the article before your changes seems to match this article in ThaiPR.net. Your edit summary says "Detecting and correcting multiple RS FAILs", but I don't see any RS that match what you've changed the information to; however it did seem to match what little English source data exists. Can you provide those RS that you used rather than your changes being reverted; thanks. Wikierroneous 07:20, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Wikierroneous. First a few corrections: As you can see from my edit I simply reverted the unsourced table that was in the article and restored information from an earlier version. I did not add any new information.
- Also your comment
I notice that you've removed a large amount of information about the roles of the band members
is unclear. Thislarge amount of information about the roles of the band members
was a huge dump of unsourced DOBs and positions which were added by an anonymous IP back in October. Dumping unsourced DOBs and positions in K-pop articles is unsourced BLP information and long-term edit-warring in many K-pop articles and should be reverted on sight.
- It has been longstanding consensus in K-pop articles not to use tables. If you doubt that please ask Drmies who participated in those discussions in the past. So another benefit of my edit was the removal of the table, which in any case contained unsourced DOBs and positions and had to be deleted.
- You are proposing to use a new spelling for the names: I have no objection to that. But I reiterate that I simply restored an earlier version of the names and did not add any new ones of my own while reverting unsourced DOBs and positions which were added by an anonymous IP back in October. Also please check my edit as compared to an edit back in October. You will notice that there was no change whatsoever in the Korean names' orthography by me.
- You say:
Your edit summary says "Detecting and correcting multiple RS FAILs", but I don't see any RS that match what you've changed the information to;
I hope you realise that when one mentions "RS failure", when reverting information in an article, it is in regards to the information being removed; i.e. the unsourced dates of birth and positions and not the original text of the article being reverted to which does not have the unsourced information.
- You say
information about the band members roles (and the band members names) that was in the article before your changes seems to match this article in ThaiPR.net
: The information I removed was unsouced DOBs and positions, not only positions. The source you found "ThaiPR.net" for the positions looks like a PR agency and as such it is unreliable. Also I cannot see any positions in the link you provided.
- You say
Can you provide those RS that you used rather than your changes being reverted; thanks
First, you cannot revert my "changes" in plural, because as I have explained I reverted unsourced DOBs and positions, in addition to restoring a former version of the names. I hope you are not planning to restore unsouced DOBs and positions. As I mentioned previously you are free to change the spelling of the names but that would not constitute mychanges being reverted
because, as I explained multiple times now, the changes were not mine to begin with. If you are planning to add positions based on the PR firm in Thailand I suggest you seek consensus first because it does not look like a reliable source to me.
- I hope that helps. Dr. K. 15:21, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. We should be very wary of having Wikipedia articles turn into copies of SM Entertainment's official bios. Drmies (talk) 21:09, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Drmies: I don't know the WP policy that says don't trust the self-published site to determine spelling of their own names or their birth dates, opting instead to rely on the unsourced spelling from some unidentified earlier Wikipedian. Please point me to it so I can inform myself on that bizarre policy. Wikierroneous 01:32, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

It is, of course, most unfortunate that this entire conversation, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the Day6 Wikipedia article, has occurred in the Article Talk space rather than the User Talk page where it belonged; but I won't be so childish as to cut & paste it to there. I'll undo your unsourced apparent misspelling of the names and add the references to their official website & the ThaiPR article for the band positions listed (in a table format only because that seems the most suitable for the information in this case). Cheers — Wikierroneous 01:32, 30 November 2015 (UTC) P.S. Regardless, cool user page photos… Have a nice day! |

Please leave out the personal attacks and read the very relevant information I wrote above more carefully including the information that no tables should be used in K-pop articles. There has been consensus to not add tables to K-pop articles and you did not heed my advice and added a table to this article with all kinds of trivial information and no surprise you got reverted. Until you gain consensus you use this talkpage and you don't edit-war by adding tables to articles with trivial information. This conversation is very well-placed here. DAY6 vs Day6
[edit]I see both Day6 and DAY6 within the same article and the inconsistency is apparent. Is this something that we can perhaps standardize across all of the DAY6-related pages?
I'm assuming based on this, it would have to be 'Day6' that will be used throughout, and in the lead we'd need to write, "Day6, stylized as DAY6, is a ..."?
Same case with Every Day6 vs Every DAY6. --SwegChicken (talk) 09:47, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
- You are correct. Fans are being pedantic with their usage in all caps. We go by WP:MOSTM for all article names. Evaders99 (talk) 05:33, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
