Regarding Neutrality
[edit]Since the people editing this are likely all involved with the school somehow, please remember to keep this article neutral. Wikipedia is supposed to be a collection of unbiased encyclopedic material, so don't allow your personal bias to interfere with the neutrality of the article. Talk about the good and the bad, not just the good. Relambrien 06:48, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]I saw that mysteryman added a pic of the main building. I have a better pic of the campus now that his is gone. Could someone unblock it?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Falcofire (talk • contribs)
- No, but I can add it. First of all, though, the picture you uploaded has a "fair use" tag and no source information. If you took the photo yourself and want to release rights to it under the GFDL, please change the tag on the photo to {{GFDL-self}}. If not, the photo will soon be deleted anyway because it is replaceable. Let me know what you decide. Kafziel Talk 16:58, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
ok, how do i change license, because it's my pic i took.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Falcofire (talk • contribs)
- Go to the photo, click the "edit" tab, and replace the current tag with {{GFDL-self}}. Kafziel Talk 17:04, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
ok I changed the license. I'd appreciate it if you could post that up there somewhere. thx
- Done. Thanks for the picture! Kafziel Talk 17:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Reassess
[edit]This is a good start article but you need some references to be a B class. Ask at WikiProject Schools if you need any help. Dahliarose 22:38, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]Attention DMA cadets. Please stop defacing this web page. Adding in derisive nicknames for our battalion staff (considering even putting their full names and school makes them personally identifiable to anyone who wants to find them) is dangerous, unwarranted, and against the spirit of DMA. -W. Thompson Relambrien (talk) 15:50, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Page Revamp
[edit]Since I'm probably the most experienced person in the school when it comes to editing websites, and Wikipedia specifically, I've taken it upon myself to revamp the school's page so as to increase its quality to the standards that Wikipedia requires. I'll be adding an infobox, changing the page layout, updating and reorganizing information, and adding sources. This could take me a good bit of time and there will be instances where the page doesn't look right or appears entirely messed up. Please be patient if you come across the page at such a time, because it means I'm in the middle of updating something and it will be fixed shortly. I'll never leave the page in an unusable state. -W. Thompson. Relambrien (talk) 20:51, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Oh Woody, somehow I knew if I looked on this webpage I'd find you somewhere —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.58.27.236 (talk) 06:35, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Redo the sports section so that it doesn't focus on soccer, in fact don't make it focus on anything. Just list the sports we have.
Also, get rid of the Alumni section, it's not that important. 71.175.146.127 (talk) 22:36, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'll be fixing that shortly. Relambrien (talk) 18:54, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Fixed. I don't think I forgot any sports. Feel free to add any more information you find. Relambrien (talk) 19:12, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
To Do
[edit]Things that still need to be done
- Add a "History" section
- Add more external links
- Add sources
- Wikify
Fix "Location"- Fix "Academics"
- Fix "Arts"
- Fix "Community"
Fix "Finances"- Remove useless "Alumni" section (See debate)
If there are any qualms about this, please make them known. Relambrien (talk) 19:12, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Alright, finished a bunch of it. Now for the tedious stuff. If anyone has any information on where I can get a source on the history of the school, it would be great. Once I get the History section up and running, I'll add other sources, then wikify it, and then this article should be more or less done. Relambrien (talk) 20:23, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Alumni
[edit]DMA is a new school. As per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Schools guidelines, as mentioned here:[1], only notable alumni should be mentioned in an alumni section. With only three graduating classes so far, there are no alumni which may be considerd "notable." See WP:BIO or WP:MUSIC for criteria which should be used in determining if an alumnus is "notable." Until the school has alumni that are notable, any section on DMA alumni is not encyclopedic, and therefore not within Wikipedia guidelines. Relambrien (talk) 15:50, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- Relambrien, the DMA article is a bit one sided. I realize my comment to you should not have been there however.
- It is fact that DMA offered bricks to the last two graduating classes in exchange for "special" alumni bricks outside Science Hall. They have not been installed. This can be verified. Additionally, we were the first cadets to take a chance on an experiment and we paved the way for you. We were the cadets who ate lunch in classrooms the first year (when there was only one building).
- Please think about us when you delete information. ImproveDMA (talk) 00:04, 15 October 2008 (UTC)ImproveDMA
- Thank you, and I see your point. If you could highlight exactly which parts of the article are one-sided, we can discuss how better to achieve a neutral point of view. As for the bricks, I think that would probably be best mentioned in the finances section, perhaps in a sub-section about fundraising. The alumni section is fine as it is now, in my opinion. Although it isn't really necessary and doesn't add anything particularly important to the article, I concede that it does show that we, the authors, acknowledge the fact that many schools have an alumni section in their articles, and it lets readers know that the school hasn't yet had time to develop any alumni which Wikipedia guidelines would define as "notable." Also, I do apologize about the harsh tone earlier. I was frustrated at a lot of the poor writing and misinformation. In my fervor, I reacted more harshly than I should have. Relambrien (talk) 00:54, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Academic Fluff
[edit]I have deleted a large portion of this section. There were no sources provided after several years of being tagged citation needed. It sounded like advertising for the school, and was therefore removed. The state statistics show that the school is only slightly better in most metrics than the state average, and SAT scores for the students are below national averages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Microscone (talk • contribs) 18:33, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
