I believe when I was younger you could take these beans and rub them on the sidewalk or another rough surface, and it could absorb the heat and release it by touching someone with the bean with about the same amount of pain as a bee sting. - Growing up in Central Texas we knew these as "burn beans." When one side of the seed is heated via friction, the opposite side remains cool enough to grasp. The bean's hot side is then used to poke younger siblings or playground adversaries. The seeds also make excellent slingshot ammunition. --lizardo_tx (talk) 13:18, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
