Missing white woman syndrome

[edit]

@Someone not using his real name: Why the link to Missing white woman syndrome? Is this phenomenon common in Romania (where these events occurred) and/or known to have been a factor in the media coverage of this case? If both answers are "no", I'd suggest removing the link as it seems out of place. Dwpaul Talk 14:47, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And if the answer to the second question is "yes" perhaps this bears including a line of explanation in the body. Dwpaul Talk 14:50, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
While I can't find anything that qualifies as WP:RS to use that phrase in relation to this case (I don't know who writes this blog), I think the 200+ TV episodes about this case on one station alone surely qualify as an "extreme form of infotainment", as the 2009 Media Sustainability Index described it. Unfortunately "a line of explanation in the body" requires a WP:RS, while a WP:SEEALSO, not matter how obvious, does not. The body does contain now more content about the level and type of media coverage. (And in case you wonder why I added trial by media to "see also", is the CNA warnings for improper/unbalanced coverage, such as [1], which named the culprit as guilty in 2011 [well before the trial], contrary to the presumption of innocence, which the CNA wants the press to follow as well.)
