A matter of folk

[edit]

"During the 20th and 21st century, a revival of folk began and the term folk music took on a second meaning: it describes a particular kind of popular music which is culturally descended from or otherwise influenced by traditional folk music." - a quote from the folk music article for those who called disco-polo's predecessors "non-genuine" folk. [edit]

I just want to note that it was (and still is somewhat) extremely popular in Poland. Like 90% people asked on the street would know Disco Relax and could name at least a few Disco polo artists. Oftenmoved99 (talk) 04:54, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Improve the English translation

[edit]

I was eager to know more but the article is very hard to read as it seems to have been translated by Google translate or similar computer program or someone who doesn't speak fluent English Ralphhalgas (talk) 02:52, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

+1. "...and often texts are of a playful, and holiday." I really can't understand what's meant by "holiday". I hope it is at least translated from pl.wp so it can be retranslated; if the original is not available on the Internet, I'm afraid it can't even be improved. --82.131.125.77 (talk) 13:17, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It was probably "translated" using Google translator or sth — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.215.91.138 (talk) 02:53, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that the article was translated badly from pl:Disco polo. The rough translation template has been inserted and the article is now listed as needing clean-up. Magru (talk) 06:51, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
3 years later, it still needs cleaning up :( EmGaGa (talk) 08:32, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The translation was corrected and is now faithful to the original, however the original had many stylistic errors and needed correcting in its own right. I'm new to this and don't feel I would do a good job here, can someone more experienced take the wheel Jengordyn (talk) 17:11, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gated reverb

Should this be a link to gated reverb? --Error (talk) 15:33, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

About the Confusing Template

[edit]

The sentence that the template pertains to is actually contradictory to what the same sentence in pl/Disco Polo states: Na początku lat 90. Krzysztof Krawczyk śpiewał i nagrywał piosenki w nurcie italo disco, na bazie którego powstało disco polo. The literal translation would be In the early 90s Krzysztof Krawczyk sang and recorded in the Italo disco current, on basis of which disco polo came into being. Interesting to note that even Google Translate translates in a similar manner. So what we have here is a case of bad translation, not confusing information. I will fix this sentence and delete the template in question. Wrzodek (talk) 10:23, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
