Climate for Kuwait?!

[edit]

Why is the climate information based on Kuwait Airport in Kuwait City? The entire climate graphics and chart must be redone. In the meantime, I'm removing the climate chart and editing the data. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.172.215.94 (talk) 19:39, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, I updated the data myself. Everything should now be accurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.172.215.94 (talk) 19:54, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coffee

I'm not sure that Arabic Coffee is a good image for Doha. I'm suggesting it be removed after a week if I don't get any other comments --Matt 04:48, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion request

[edit]

This is no longer a stub, but should probably continue to be expanded. -- Beland 17:20, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I expanded the article a lot, and have added many new sections - I just completed a section on transport in Doha. Are there any other sections we could possibly add to the article? Amjra 20:10, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:RayyanInterchange.gif

[edit]

Image:RayyanInterchange.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

demographics

some info here belongs under qatar not doha. Population seems either wrong or contradictory (refer to cited article). Is it Qatar's or Doha's population that nears one million?--Aniish72 (talk) 13:27, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not only is that particular peice of information incorrect, but the satement that suggests that Doha has an excellent road system, seriously, where did you compare it to? Article reads like an advert

[edit]

If any city in the West effectively banned women, as does Doha, that would certainly be covered in the article. Why no mention of it here? Men and women cannot use the same shops at the same time. Why no mention of that? This article reads like a Qatari Travel Advert. It's certainly totally lacking in any remotely critical content. Goalsonly2 (talk) 19:19, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Qatar to Host 2023 Women's Islamic Games

Article lacking in citations

[edit]

I popped onto this article for some info on the city and discovered a disturbing lack of citations, particularly in the History section which contains absolutely none. There are some pretty severe NPOV issues in the writing as well but I'll leave that for another day... as is, in my opinion this is not a reliable article. [edit]

Was the city's population 1 million?--46.130.151.27 (talk) 21:02, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No. the population isn't reached 1 million milestone. Alos the city has no metro area too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.130.45.228 (talk) 15:45, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two unsourced edits in 2016 and 2019 where someone has updated the population in the lead paragraph but kept the old footnote ([1], [2]). In the latter edit even the title of the source was falsified. I changed the population back to 956,460 ([3]). It might be outdated but at least it matches the source. I didn't change it in the infobox but I removed the footnote from there. --Risukarhi (talk) 14:37, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with AdDawhah

[edit]

I gather from the Doha article that the city and municipality are coextensive, though I'm not sure about that. In any event, Doha does mention the municipality, and the new AdDawhah article seems to contradict it, since it gives a population for the entire municipality that's lower than the population of the city alone. Largoplazo (talk) 16:29, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you actually go look at a map the of Doha, it goes somewhat outside of the borders of the municipality into other municipalities, that's why the population of the AdDawhah municipality is lower. I think it should be it's own article although it might have the same name as the city and it's about the same size, it's not quite the same thing.TheRealSou (talk) 16:30, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, OK. In that case, though:
  1. At a minimum, should the name of the other article be changed to Doha Municipality or something like that? Or is it, unlike the city, normally referred to by its Arabic name even in English?
  2. Should material from this article that's about the municipality be moved there?
Largoplazo (talk) 16:53, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
From what I've read it's referred to as AdDawhah, but the change wouldn't matter that much. And yes I think information about the municipality should definitely be moved there. Sorry for the late response. TheRealSou (talk) 20:10, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I saw no reason for changing the title of this section, which is a discussion of a proposed merger, so I've reverted that. Since it hasn't been closed out with a consensus, and since no changes have been made to either article either to implement a merger or to shift material as you proposed, it seemed premature to remove the merge tags from either of them, so I've restored those as well. Largoplazo (talk) 17:07, 28 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I removed the merge tags is because I've shown why they should be separate, I felt it was no longer needed. As for the change of this title section, I shouldn't have changed the name but I thought that the title was what added the merger, so my bad on that. I will begin on shifting the information.TheRealSou (talk) 16:21, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have now shifted all the information I believe to be relevant to the other article not to this one, you may go over it just to make sure I haven't forgotten anything if you'd like. I'd suggest we now remove the merge tags.TheRealSou (talk) 16:40, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Improvement

[edit]

We should attempt to Improve this page, by adding citations and fixing grammar if any part of the page needs more citations or fixed grammar. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 09:14, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the commas you added are incorrect. You’ve used it to separate two items in a list in the “As the commercial capital of Qatar,…” sentence (they’re only used for more than two items) and cut off an introductory clause (“The earliest documented mention of Al Bidda was made in 1681, by the Carmelite Convent”). Obviously attempts to improve the page are more than welcomed and appreciated, but please give WP:CIR a look, as we want to make sure we’re actually improving the article rather than introducing more errors. Elspamo4 (talk) 12:01, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Elspamo4 Oh Alright, Sorry. BangladeshiEditorInSylhet (talk) 12:58, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No need to apologize, it’s clear that you’re making a sincere effort to improve Wikipedia articles and communicate those changes. If I could make a suggestion, I would focus more on adding references, as grammar can be quite tricky for non-native speakers, and also because making sure there are reliable sources is a much higher priority. If you’re not sure about the proper way to cite sources WP:REF could be helpful. Happy editing. Elspamo4 (talk) 15:38, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
