Adding a Photo to this Article

[edit]

Should we add a Photo of Doug Bowser to his Wikipedia page? He is succeeding Reggie as President of Nintendo of America after all. ChaosSol (talk) 02:23, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request for Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America

[edit]

Hello,

First, I’d like to disclose that I work for a public relations firm (Golin) that performs public relations services on behalf of Nintendo of America.

Before we make our edit request, please note that our reason for reaching out is the clear factual discrepancy in Doug’s title. We are trying to correct that factual error that subtracts from his profile overall. Therefore, we are hoping you can help with suggested edits to the page for Nintendo of America’s president (Doug Bowser) with the following suggestions to his page below:

Doug Bowser (born August 28, 1965) is the current President of Nintendo of America, Inc. In this role, he works with the NOA Executive Management Team to establish priorities for the business and works closely with Nintendo of Canada, Ltd. and Nintendo of Europe for worldwide alignment of the brand. He also represents Nintendo as a member of the Electronics Software Association Executive Board.

Career Section: Prior to joining Nintendo in 2015, Doug worked at Electronic Arts for eight years and spent 23 years prior to that working at Proctor & Gamble. Please note that this information was sourced from the biography page on Nintendo.com. If you have any questions or need clarity on anything within this email, please let me know.

There's some things we can't quite do, as we have to avoid outright promotion as well as that we have to stick to verifyability.
I WAS able to source his P&G and EA periods better. That's good.
I was able to confirm (probably obvious, but needed to make sure) he reps Nintendo for ESA.
But the stuff related to being on NOA's Exec. Management Team and working with NoC/NoE for worldwide alignment, unfortunately, starts getting down the road of "corporate speak" that we don't usually engage in on WP. I did try to work the lead a bit better better to focus on the big highlight (he's NOA president/COO after Reggie, the VP stuff wasn't as important to the lede).
In that, I did find a few more sources around his name which just helps on notability. Hopefully this is better, I just don't think we can go as far with the wording as you've suggested. --Masem (t) 23:46, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Masem:

Thank you for the edits. We would like to request one more if possible.
Doug Bowser is NOA’s president, however he is not the COO. Can you please remove the COO title from his profile?
Please refer to the Nintendo Press Site here for his title NOA Executive Bios
The press site bio says: “As President of Nintendo of America Inc. Doug Bowser leads operations across the Americas, working with the NOA Executive Management Team to develop strategies and priorities for the business and organization.”
You can also see that in press releases, Doug is only referred to as the “Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser” such as in this release Example Press Release
Please let me know if this COO title can be removed from his profile.

The issue I'm seeing is that Reggie appears to have been both President and COO, but when he retired and Bowser was said to be taking his place, many of our RSes took the assumption that this meant BOTH positions (President and COO). Obviously president is correct, no question, but they're missing the sublty on the COO. I think we can remove that without an issue. --Masem (t) 01:33, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Even the Guardian got it wrong. A question: I am assume someone else - likely a not-well knwon person took over COO, do we have a link for that? Please note the press release site at nintendo.com requires a user/pass which we dont really want to use. --Masem (t) 01:36, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Masem:

I appreciate the removal of COO from his title. Can you also please remove the COO title from the box on the far right under “Occupation” as well?
As for the COO role, the COO responsibilities are spread among several executives, but no one person holds that title.
Thank you,

Missed that one, but done. --Masem (t) 20:51, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
