Line to Stoke Works

[edit]

I removed the section giving a date for the line to Stoke Works Junction - various historical maps clearly show the line being in existence long before the 1899 rebuilding, although I've yet to work out what the actual opening date for the branch was (assuming it wasn't an original feature). --92.25.119.201 (talk) 23:08, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The line between Droitwich and Stoke Works Junction was an original feature: see
  • Jenkins, Stanley C.; Quayle, H.L. (1977). The Oxford, Worcester & Wolverhampton Railway. The Oakwood Library of Railway History. Blandford: Oakwood Press. OL40. {{cite book}}: Invalid |ref=harv (help)
where it says "In February [1852], a further short section of line from Worceester to Stoke Prior had opened for traffic; stations were provided at Fernhill Heath, Droitwich and Stoke Works." (Jenkins & Quayle 1977, p. 26) The main line from Droitwich came later: it was opened as far as Stourbridge [Junction] on 3 May 1852 (Jenkins & Quayle 1977, p. 29). --Redrose64 (talk) 07:00, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
