Proposal of merging W7 Series Shinkansen to E7 Series Shinkansen
[edit]I propose to merge W7 Series Shinkansen into E7 Series Shinkansen. I think that the content in the W7 Series Shinkansen articles can easily be explained in the context of E7 Series Shinkansen, and the E7 Series Shinkansen article is of a reasonable size that the merging of W7 Series Shinkansen will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. And not to mention, specifications are same for both types. 2406:3003:2004:6A0:112B:8436:A2FE:D040 (talk) 06:33, 4 July 2019 (UTC)

- You're supposed to tag the articles you want to merge (see section "Step 2: Tag the relevant pages" in WP:MERGEINIT); i've done that now. Give it some more time so people can notice. Nyamo Kurosawa (huh?) 05:26, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- Ok then. 5 "Support" votes, then it's a merge. I am going to edit the merged-without-discussion version and revert it with the merge tag.2406:3003:2004:6A0:A839:D085:2889:BF46 (talk) 08:49, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

- Support as proposer. Both train types are really the same thing. 2406:3003:2004:6A0:41EC:3820:288B:4823 (talk) 08:25, 9 July 2019 (UTC)

Oppose: The articles used to be together until they were split in 2014, and i'd say keeping them separate makes them easier to read. Nyamo Kurosawa (huh?) 22:09, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
- I took some time to rethink this: My previous opposition was more of a reaction to the three undiscussed merges of the articles. The E7 and W7 series and their respective articles are quite similar, including their sources. Basically there is no reason for me to still oppose this merge request (kinda no strong enough reason to support it either), so: Neutral, but please merge with proper attribution (Template:Merged-from). - Support. Although having the articles seperate does make them easier to read, there's really no need read them separately as they are essentially the same train, just with different numbering and announcement melodies (and other things that JR West do differently). Reading them seprately just wastes time as again the trains are very similar. Moreover, there is only one article for the two trainsets on the Japanese Wikipedia. I'm open to being convinced otherwise. Also please don't vote twice if you did, let's keep this a fair discussion. RossDensha (talk) 08:21, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support as the trains are (almost) exactly the same. But I think W7 series Shinkansen should be under a separate level-2 header. 199.255.96.2 (talk) 10:13, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- Support. All above points are fair, and I don't think that the E7 and W7 types are more different than the various N700 subtypes owned separately by JR Central, JR West, and JR Kyushu (besides the naming), which all share the same article. Briguychau (talk) 23:37, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 10:17, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
