[edit]This article may be confusing or unclear to readers. (December 2006) |
It's unclear whether this writing system puts the most significant digit on the left or on the right. Are pronunciation and inscription in the same order as the alphabetic text? -- Beland 03:59, 10 October 2006 (UTC) the writing system puts the most significant digit on the left.
Also, It's not precise to tell that the pronunciation puts the order from right to left. In all media [nowadays formal arabic] & in spoken arabic they start from left to right but they read it in this order: BA if the number is 2 digits; ACB if 3 digits; ABDC if 4 digits; BACED if 5 digits; ACBDFE if 6 digits; ABDCEGF if 7 digits; Example: 21632 will be: One and twenty thousand and six hundred and two and thirty.

[edit]The numeral glyphs are too small to distinguish clearly on my browser. It would be better if they were in a table.--agr (talk) 18:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
And Decimal Points?
[edit]How are decimals separated from the whole part? And while your at it, how are fractions written? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.60.116.17 (talk) 08:59, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
- I was also trying to figure out how thousands separators work, and what the pattern is (millions vs. lakh, etc.). -- Beland (talk) 20:41, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
- The placement (due to text direction issues) of decimal points and percent signs is also confusing; see e.g.: https://ckb.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%A6%D8%A7%D8%A8%D9%88%D9%88%D8%B1%DB%8C_%D8%B3%D8%B9%D9%88%D8%AF%DB%8C%DB%95 -- Beland (talk) 20:44, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
Keyboard order
[edit]I know that telephone numbers are entered into a phone from left to right as written, but are calculators/adding machines which are marketed for the region localized to require input from right to left? Thanks - knoodelhed (talk) 01:51, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
Merger discussion for Indian numerals
[edit]An article that you have been involved in editing, Indian numerals , has been proposed for merging with another article. If you are interested, please participate in the merger discussion. Thank you. Scientus (talk) 06:11, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
Why "10"?
[edit]"10" isn't a numeral digit -- and in none of the cases on the page is "10" different from a "1" digit followed by a "0" digit. Therefore its presence implies incorrectly that its appearance, unlike say "11", isn't already accounted for by those of the other digits. May I remove this column, so as to be logically consistent and so as to match the page for Indian numerals? 24.228.93.20 (talk) 14:14, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
Article Title
[edit]Please discuss why this page shouldn't have been moved to the scholarly term of Arabic-Indic numerals..Filpro (talk) 00:24, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- These numbers in your comment are Arabic and are called Western Arabic numbers or dust numbers, which in the article are called Eastern Arabic or Hindu Arabic, so do not confuse them with the Arabic numbers developed by the Arabs and used in all parts of the world now, or are you from India and you reply Attribute what the Arabs and Muslims have done to yourselves 😂 109.107.227.242 (talk) 11:43, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
