First Black Medal of Honor Recipient?

"the first African-American regular to receive the Medal of Honor"

This wording is a little misleading. There were several who received the medal during the Civil War. Perhaps he was the first during the Indian Wars period? H-2-O (talk) 16:43, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
