Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because it is more informative and detailed than other long-existing articles about similar clubs (Cambridge Sports Union, New England Orienteering Club and Delaware Valley Orienteering Association), all of which have been available from the United States Orienteering Federation article for some time. Our article includes background information about the sport, which is not available at the other similar club articles. It is relevant to users in the Albany area who want to find locations to go orienteering. (A list of local maps and their locations will be added shortly.)— Texasguy57 (talk) 00:44, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Informative" and "relevant" do not assert notability. Reliable sources do. Unless you can show any the article is not encyclopedic and will not be able to stay. -- Alexf(talk) 02:26, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article shows six References from independent reliable sources (1 added today). I read the guidelines. These seem to me to fit the definition. If I am incorrect, please tell me why. Thanks for the feedback, regardless. Texasguy57 (talk) 12:02, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
