In addition to Wisconsin-Madison, I think Eric Heiden attended U.C. San Diego in the early 1980s. I know he spent a lot of time on campus, but not sure if he was a student.

Heiden in Tour de France

Uhh, the guy is the greatest athlete in US history, they are naming bridges after him in Holland, I saw a video where it took a helicopter and a submarine to keep up with the him on a frozen lake in WI. 46th greatest athlete of the century?
