Minor changes

[edit]

There are two changes that I reverted:

  1. "upland boneset" → "Upland Boneset" because Upland Boneset is a proper name of the plant. Also, the convention for almost all plant articles has been to make such common names capitalized.
  2. "The inflorescence is composed of many white flowers" → "The flowers are white and [[inflorescence|arranged]]" because the inflorescence is the pattern of arrangement of flowers, and it does not make sense to say that a pattern is composed of flowers. I also searched for the phrase "inflorescence is composed" and this appears to be used only in very old writings, and very infrequently.

This makes no sense "The flowers are white and arranged in disc florets" An inflorescence is a "collection" of single flowers or heads of flowers. So its like saying a house (inflorescence) in made of white bricks (white flowers), and the bricks (flowers) have only rounded edges (disc florets).
Your sentence says "the bricks are white and collected together in rounded edges" A disc floret is one single flower in a head or collection of flowers. What is a pattern composed of? its parts.
In this group of plants the flower heads are made up of flowers that have only one type of florets instead of two like many species in the family, another type of floret is ray florets which this species lacks. On the common name. I prefer caps on both myself, after doing some bigging it seems plants has its have their own naming convention page and we are going with caps after all [1] Hardyplants (talk)
I looked up inflorescence and it can either be the arrangement of flowers on an axis, or a flower cluster, so I shouldn't have corrected your use of the word. I like it better how you re-worded it, though.
Also, thank you for adding more content. « D. Trebbien (talk) 17:57, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problems with what you did, because of it the page is more complete. Thank you for the spelling and word corrections, after being up for over 24 hours, It was more difficult than usual to correct my own poor grammar. Hardyplants (talk) 09:34, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
