Gayden on writing the song

[edit]

Replacing unsourced block of text of Mac Gayden's recollection of writing the song with a quote from Songwriting Magazine website and shifting Gayden's recollection from Composition and Overview section - which I've retitled Overview - to the Robert Knight section. --Cherrylimerickey (talk) 00:40, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Version by snooker player Joe Johnson

[edit]

There was also a version released by the 1986 world snooker champion Joe Johnson but it didn't chart - www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoiDwnFVnf0 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.99.210.174 (talk) 22:17, 19 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

David Essex version: reversing edit to "Year"

[edit]

I'm reversing the March 6 edit which changed the year for the David Essex version on the album Cover Shot from "1993" to "1968 + réédition 1972". Both Cover Shot & the cited single were released in 1993 so that should be the year which appears in the appropriate column. If the editor can substantiate that the track was recorded in an earlier year could he or she please cite that info in the "Details" column or as a footnote?Cherrylimerickey (talk) 22:54, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Gold single for Estefan?

[edit]

Re Gold certification for Gloria Estefan's "Everlasting Love": I've applied a "citation needed" tag. The single's Hot 100 showing makes Gold status unlikely & there is no confirmation at http://www.rockonthenet.com/artists-e/gloriaestefan_main.htm which seems to thoroughly document Estefan's RIAA certification history.

Wll it's been awhile since I put in the citation needed tag - sorry somehow I didn't date it but I know it's been years! - anyway I have found the RIAA site and "Everlasting Love" is not listed on the site's page for Estefan: click to verify @ https://www.riaa.com/?s=gloria+estefan --Cherrylimerickey (talk) 22:48, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Kudos!

I just want to say that this article is a model of how to write an article about a popular song. It's thorough, accurate, and pays significant attention to every successful version of the song. Congratulations to every Wikipedian who worked on it! Jhlechner (talk) 16:16, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
