Evoor Temple is a major temple of Travancore Devaswom board under it's Mavelikara religion . According to the board's press release dated 27/7/2005, this is one of 85 temples (out of a total of 1200) that is self reliable .
The traditional 'Kathakali' institutions associated with this temple , are famous .
It is a historical fact that , Evoor temple came in to existence upon completion of 'Khandava Dahanam'. The names of nearby places , Karippuzha, Pathiyoor (Kathiya Oor) , Pandavarkavu, Mannarassala , Kannamangalam (Kanva-Mangalam) , etc confirm this .
