Removing long quote in lead

[edit]

The paragraph-length quote in the lead section is unusual and unnecessary (and also missing the page number for the source). WP:OVERQUOTING and WP:NOFULLTEXT reasonably discourages these kinds of long quotes, especially when the information can be easily paraphrased. As it happens, the main content of the quote (regarding the riches of the palaces and their subsequent looting) is already summarized in the first paragraph above, so it's all the more repetitive and unnecessary. For these reasons, I'm removing the quote and leaving a citation to the source in the preceding summary instead. This can be reverted, but if there are details that anyone feels are missing in the summary then I'd recommend paraphrasing the source instead of quoting it.
