[edit]Question on the date in the History section: If the town was never incorporated, what does that date mean? is it the date that Mr. Finley arrived at this location? Was the town incorporated at one point, and is no longer? I'll try to find out, but if anyone knows, please post a response... Thanks! Pollution
[edit]Quote: Pollution[edit]
Located next to the Boise Cascade pulp mill, Finley frequently suffers from poor air quality resulting in chronic rhinitis, allergy-like symptoms, and flu-like symptoms for many residents. The mill generally discharges large quantities of byproducts from the Kraft process such as: hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, and other volatile sulfur compounds. During stagnant air conditions the pollution builds up to the point that overpowering odors are detectable and people fall ill.
I can find no documentation for any of the above paragraph...
Boise Cascade is located 8 miles away from Finley, across the Columbia River, in Walla Walla County. The Benton County Clean Air Agency is apparently unaware of the Finley air quality issues.
Unless some sources are cited for the "Pollution" section, I'm leaning towards a major NPOV issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kcrosby (talk • contribs) 00:22, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
3/8/2016. Noted that citations have been entered for the "POLLUTION" section. Unfortunately, sources cited are not applicable.
Citation #4 references specific Boise Cascade sites, none of which are the subject of the section cited, are the same type of facility, nor are even within 100 miles of Finley, WA. The plant mentioned in the article is the Wallula, WA White Paper facility. The cite references the following PLYWOOD production facilities: Emmett, Idaho (now closed) Florien, La. Oakdale, La. Island City, Ore. Elgin, Ore. Medford, Ore. White City, Ore. ("Rogue Valley" facility) Kettle Falls, Wash.
Citation #5 is even more of a reach, as it cites a local source located in Bend, OR (250.6 miles from Finley)which describes a pollution alert across portions of WA and Oregon. Again no mention is made of the Wallula (or any other) facility. Instead, the cite references wood smoke as the primary pollutant...
Is there not a more suitable article for a person who has a political/environmental axe to grind with Boise Cascade to participate in?
As an aside, the Wallula plant is actually located to the SE of Finley. As prevailing winds in Finley are generally from the SW or N, pollution from the Wallula facility are unlikely to reach Finley. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.189.213.249 (talk) 18:29, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
