[edit]At some point, I'll include Baxter's hard science basis for the events depicted in Flood. Calibanu (talk) 01:48, 10 September 2008 (UTC)User Calibanu
Done, although I would weclome any elaboration from those more versed in geological science than I am. Calibanu (talk) 02:46, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[User Calibanu}
- And the water is flowing upward to the surface from its subterranean caverns ... why? 216.255.165.198 (talk) 21:13, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
Shouldn't there be a link to the very similar Waterworld? I understand that this takes places as the flooding event is happening but there are certainly very similar events in each. -146.23.68.40 (talk) 21:19, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
No, because as I noted in the main body of the entry, Flood is derived from the cited scientific references which explain the scale of inundation, whereas Waterworld derives its premise from the melting of the polar ice caps (which wouldn't be enough to inundate the whole world, even if it all melted- which it doesn't in Flood, as there are still icecaps over Greenland (albeit halved in size) and Eastern Antarctica at novel's end in 2052).

Baxter actually mentions at one point that melting the caps would "only" cause a rise of eighty metres, nasty for anyone by the sea but other wise not exactly fatal...Worst..Film...Ever!

I'm a fan of Baxter's and am finishing Flood. I took the liberty of polishing up the synopsis just a little by adding surnames for all the of main characters and changing the name "Axys Corporation" to "AxysCorp", so that it would agree with the book's text (Axys may be a corporation, but a review of the book finds that it's never anywhere called anything other than "AxysCorp"). Plot SUMMARY
[edit]That 'summary' is too long by far. One hundred words is enough. C'mon.
Spoiler in the very first paragraph
[edit]Although it didn't ruined the book and the subject entirely the first paragraph really spoiled the conclusion of the main storyline.
Shouldn't it be edited ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.49.239.196 (talk) 20:36, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
