An excellent summary of this amendment and other related ones is

  • Merrill, Richard A. (1997). "FOOD SAFETY REGULATION:Reforming the Delaney Clause". Annual Review of Public Health. 18 (1): 313–340. doi:10.1146/annurev.publhealth.18.1.313. ISSN 0163-7525.

Other sources include these:

In 1969 there was a ban on cyclamate because of a study which found it toxic to rats. This 1970 report might be related to that - I did not find the original study.

  • Price, J. M.; Biava, C. G.; Oser, B. L.; Vogin, E. E.; Steinfeld, J.; Ley, H. L. (1970). "Bladder Tumors in Rats Fed Cyclohexylamine or High Doses of a Mixture of Cyclamate and Saccharin". Science. 167 (3921): 1131–1132. doi:10.1126/science.167.3921.1131. ISSN 0036-8075.

Anyway, the story is that because of the banning of this chemical, President Nixon ordered a review at that time of all chemicals designated as GRAS.

Chemical analysis sensitivity might be 1 million times more sensitive than in the 1950s. Here's a start.

https://www.shimadzu.com/an/gcms/support/faq/sensitivity.html The article merely touches upon this fact; it should be fleshed out with better explanations. 2601:1C2:4E02:3020:5C8B:F954:92BA:4B12 (talk) 22:58, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This article is written strangely!!!

[edit]

I don't care enough to fix it. It's written in a strange manner with weird phrases that don't sound human. Padlocks (talk) 05:18, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
