File:Freckled Ducks.jpg to appear as POTD
[edit]Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Freckled Ducks.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on June 8, 2013. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2013-06-08. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. Thanks! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:06, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Question
[edit]I am puzzled by the statement that these ducks are most easily identified by their large head and peaked crown. Surely they are most easily identified by their distinctive pattern of freckles? The statement can only be true if there are other ducks of similar colour, size and habit with which they might be confused. If this is the case, then it ought to be stated within the article e.g. "The Freckled Duck is similar in colouration to the Speckled Duck, the Spotted Duck and the Spangled Duck. It is most easily identified by its large head and peaked crown."
