Same person?

[edit]

@DaveG12345 and AssociateAffiliate: we've got two people with the same name, same birth and death dates, both from Leicestershire. They must be the same person. But Freddie Osborn is a footballer and Frederick Osborn is a cricketer. Can either of you help to solve this mystery? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:52, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Good catch"! Clearly the same person - it was not unusual in those days for the same sportsman to play football in the winter, cricket in the summer. I suppose some sort of merge is in order (unfortunately beyond my capabilities!).--DaveG12345 (talk) 06:58, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The other possibility is that incorrect birth/death dates have been placed on one article, by someone assuming they are the same person. Can we verify whether it was the same person who played football and cricket? If so, I will attempt a merge. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:29, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'll answer my own question. Found a source: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Labour-love-proves-fine-tribute-heroes/story-26670840-detail/story.html See the 10th paragraph. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:33, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merged How does that look? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:03, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
