Can anyone tell me what date 'red diesel' started to be dyed in the UK? I'm building a model based in the 1950s and 60s and wondered what colour any spillages should be. 66.117.193.162 13:24, 17 May 2006 (UTC)David Barham[reply]

In Hungary in the 90s, the organized crime took serious (millions in USD) profit from counterfeiting diesel oil. They modified a dark colored low-tax oil with sulfuric acid into a yellow oil, looking like a high-tax diesel oil, causing damage to engines, and the goverment. Its pretty much the same article. Not all diesel is even dyed red, why not call it purple diesel like it is in my area?Trfs (talk) 04:38, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
