[edit]- I've checked the data about the age of discovery : http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-9024523/cobalt
It's not on 1735, but circa 1735. --Maxoid 04:19, 28 July 2007 (UTC) He had the idea at 1733 of cobalt, releasing his book to the public at 1739. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.196.80.106 (talk) 21:47, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
George Brandt?
[edit]Isn't the e supossed to be in his name? If it's not, it should be changed in the Cobalt article because his name in it is George and not Georg. --RobertLeBlais (talk) 15:06, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- Without e, as a typical Swedish name. Tomas e (talk) 17:09, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Is the appended s to make his name Georg Brandts in the info box then some kind of compensation to the e enders?
Chrysippo (talk) 11:19, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- More likely a misspelling, now corrected. Tomas e (talk) 15:15, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Date of birth
[edit]There are about 7,000 Google hits for 26 June 1694, but almost 40,000 for 21 July 1694. That's not conclusive, but I think the balance is for 21 July. -- JackofOz (talk) 09:05, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, rather than Googling, I checked two sources in Swedish, which both have to be classified as reliable. The encyclopedia Nordisk familjebok (1905) and the Royal Swedish Academy of Science's list of members 1739-1915 (published in 1915) both list him as born 26 June 1694. Tomas e (talk) 17:20, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- I think it should be explained in a footnote, that it differs between sources and which we use. Also britannica is the only ref now and it use 21 July which is a bit confusing. --Skizziktalk 19:01, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Photograph?!
[edit]How did Wikipedia find a seventeenth-century photograph? Seems suspicious... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.114.245.222 (talk) 18:37, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, didn't you know that photography was first dicovered in Sweden (around 1742)? It must be one of the *very first* pictures ever taken... This invention is the country's own addition to world heritage, not to mention the establishment of the world famous swedish bikini team.
- No, seriously: Clearly for the lulz, as it is from a dubious source, pic is actually Jules Henri Poincaré, we already got that pic twice. ; ) Thx for pointing to this mistake. 88.151.75.97 (talk) 22:26, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
