The Carlin Connection.

[edit]

In the George Carlin article, it's mentioned that Carlin provided a voice in the movie Cars, and that his "character" is a VW Microbus, whose front license plate reads "51237". Carlin's birthday is May 12, 1937, and a zip code lookup confirms that 51237 is a George, Iowa zip code. Surely this bizarre coincidence is worth some mention, but I'm hesitant to start a new "trivia" section in the article with only one item. Perhaps some residents of George could come up with a few more noteworthy trivia items to include in the list. - Ugliness Man 11:48, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree, it is noteworthy, and I also was going to add this information, but thought I'd better check the talk page. I also agree that it would look very lonely here so I'll leave it. Although I feel that the chances of one of the few people from George coming on here, and looking at this discuss page are pretty slim. Dangaz 10:56, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • After reading this about the "Cars", I may be the only George resident who knows about it, although it is pretty neat. There are really no other noteworthy trivia items that I am aware of. It's a pretty sleepy little town. Madhouse1337 (talk) 22:52, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Rio Grande

[edit]

Why do so many George residents refer to the Little Rock River as the "Rio Grande"? Even the local newspaper calls it that even though that is clearly not its name. It is my understanding that there was even a sign at the major bridge over it calling it the "Rio Grande". Where did this come from? Madhouse1337 (talk) 23:02, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
