Focus of the article - Series or character?

[edit]

My understanding is that Ghost Rider 2099 - the character - doesn't warrant an article of his own, based on the project guidelines. See Wikipedia:WikiProject_Comics/editorial_guidelines for the full blurb on this (it's the same philosophy that's being applied to Ultimate characters etc). However, Ghost Rider 2099 - the 25 issue ongoing series - does justify its own article. See Ultimate Spider-Man for an example of something similar. --Mrph 08:12, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cover image

[edit]

I've used the Mark Buckingham cover to #2, as I wanted an image from the original creative team. Out of the possible choices, this one wasn't just a headshot and was (from my point of view) the best one that also included the bike - #3 does also have the bike, but is an action shot with a slightly skewed view of the character's head. Are we generally happy with this, or are there suggested alternatives? --Mrph 20:52, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

The character article is basically just a copy and paste of information from the original article. I thought about just going ahead and merging them without a discussion, but I thought having a discussion for future reference would help keep the article (and other articles with similar pointless divisions) from being created again. Support merger. All information related to the comic and characters should stay in this article unless the article becomes too large (~100kb, not an issue at present). NB: For future reference, I have no prejudice against future recreation of a separate biography if, and only if, the article either becomes too large or the information is used by several articles and a single biography would be more efficient than repeating the information (unlikely to be an issue for this comic unless Marvel revives the character or setting). - AdamBMorgan (talk) 16:00, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support merger per above. --Crazy runner (talk) 05:39, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Ghost Rider 2099/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Rated as a stub, based on my own efforts so far, as this needs a lot more work. Things to consider...
  • Creator information - Len Kaminski wrote all of it, but there were a number of artists
  • Supporting cast and enemies. Out of the enemies, I think only one or two (at most) justify their own articles.
  • The references and cyberpunk-speak style of it all deserves a mention
  • ...as does the plot and the various shifts and changes it went through. Preferably viewed in the context of the larger 2099 setting & it's success/publication history.
