There is a well-written summary biography in “An Uneasy Inheritance” by Polly Toynbee, his great granddaughter, Atlantic Books, London, 2023. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.172.40.201 (talk) 19:47, 3 September 2023 (UTC)
Humanism
[edit]Claims of deathbed conversions, especially of lifelong rationalists and humanists should be regarded with skepticism, often claimed but rarely fully valid. I would suggest some justification in the text for this sentence, above & beyond the reference. Is there evidence, for instance, that he was compos mentis? Macdonald-ross 11:10, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- There is some discussion in the biography by Wilson (p. 408). I was getting round to making this more neutral. ... it is impossible to prove how much Murray had been aware of what was going on..., as it is put there. Charles Matthews 12:46, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
General style of article
[edit]I find this article extremely difficult to read because its text is ill wrought.
For example, the first paragraph under "Greek drama" has four sentences, none of which appears to belong in the same paragraph with any of the others because they don't share a coherent topic.
The sentences within the third paragraph go from the main topic of Greek drama into information on British censorship and those involved with changing it, to end on the filing of an unnamed petition.
There are also some basic grammatical problems, including pronoun antecedent ambiguities that only someone well read in the references will know how to fix.
I suggest this article be revisited with an eye toward clarity of style and unity of presentation.

Yes, v. bad. Doesn't even say when he retired. Lists his Greek OUP texts as translations. Esedowns (talk) 16:07, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
