Metres or Kilometres

[edit]

Current text says the collapse was over 15km (and converts this to miles) whereas cited reports suggest, pre-inspection, a 15 metre collapse, with the possibility of a by-pass of the section. Which is right? 86.158.24.105 (talk) 20:06, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article says 15 kilometers collapsed in one place, and 15 meters collapsed in another. That's a pretty large difference... by a factor of 1000. What's the correct number? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.112.86.189 (talk) 20:56, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was 15 meters and corrected. Thank you for pointing that out.--NortyNort (Holla) 21:51, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On Omo River?

[edit]

Gilgel Gibe II power station is built on Giber river, not on Omo river. Gilgel Gibe is a tributary of Omo River but that does not mean the the power station is on Omo. The river is called Omo many kilometers after the dam but around the dam, it is called Omo. Tumsaa (talk) 14:38, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is a sluice dam on the Gibe River which diverts water into a tunnel feeds a power station to the east on the Omo River. The power station discharges the water into the Omo, so it is described as being on the Omo River. The article gets more into detail. You can see a map overview here.--NortyNort (Holla) 00:13, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
