Too Long

[edit]

The article seems at least 2x as long as needed. Example: Highlighting an arrest of a public official, and not a conviction, doesn't meed notability guidelines as I understand them. Please remove the fluff, padding, and grammar errors. 208.54.36.254 (talk) 12:09, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree about the public official statement, but the rest of the article was just fine for over a year now. Just because you dont have the patience to read it doesnt mean other people wont either. There are plenty of long winded articles on wikipedia. If its not broke dont fix it. 70.173.93.209 (talk) 23:43, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Section about police officer removed. I agree that was quite innapropriate. Not my edit. 70.173.93.209 (talk) 23:48, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Where are the sources? You can't just type in "word of mouth" topics and expect them to be accepted as fact. Also, I have noticed alot of wording trying to make Harrisburg, Illinois sound like a large city. I have deleted the "metro" population listing. A small city with less than 10,000 people is not even close to being a metropolitan area. And to say that Harrisburg has several suburbs, is a gross example of exaggeration. Not to mention the locals calling the Clearwave building the "Harrisburg Skyscraper". This article needs an overhaul. It needs sources. It needs personal opinion taken out. And especially, it needs the major use of exaggeration taken out.

This Page needs A MAJOR Update

[edit]

MAJOR referencing, formatting update is needed, This page has much potential, but much is just local fact and knowledge that really isn't PUBLISHED anywhere. People who live here just know it happened. How can you solve that?

Known Demolished public structures

[edit]

Is it really necessary to list Known Demolished public structures? I'm sure many towns have many demolished structures I see no real need to list every structure in this article. I suggest reducing it to a reasonable number or delete the entire list. --Dual Freq 18:27, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll reduce it down to the ones only around the square. 206.125.139.81 09:24, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rating

[edit]

I have been rating articles lately for Illinois, and I have come across the arguement going on here about Walmart. It is great this article is being expanded, but there isn't a lot of the facts being cited. Not only that, but Walmart really isn't that important for an encyclopedic entry. I mean, is this the national HQ of Walmart? No. What you need to do is start modeling this article after Springfield, Illinois which is a GA city, and Detroit which is a FA city. The Walmart section should be totally removed altogether. I will post this article to a few other editor that deal with Illinois.--Kranar drogin 01:10, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Personally, I have been very generous and grade all officially recognized municipal/geographic regions as a mid at least. Beacuse people use WP to get an idea where things are as sort of a mapquest with a story I think this not too out of line IMO. I expect all such regions to have a good template at the bottom and a locator map. The first thing this article could use is such a map. Then start referencing things. Many things look like WP:OR. The table is especially suspect. Many interesting trivia facts point toward solid potential. The article needs WP:RS.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 01:28, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What is this place? How come I have never heard of it? Who goes to Saline County anyway? Let's delete all of it. Kidding.
trust me more than you know! haha
Sourcing is important, there are a lot of assertions of fact here with no references. Also it is important to remember not to give undue weight to any one topic. IvoShandor 15:39, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This has been a local community project gone array pretty much. This article has alot of potential to be a "good representative" for small town articles on Wikipedia, it needs good sourcing and organization. Of course since this has been edited by so many people that live in and around the area I doubt your going to find sources to all this information unless you spend 2 or 3 months at the local court house/library. You are right about the walmart thing anyway. Thnx for helping make this page better. :) 70.105.76.229 04:27, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Metro East

[edit]

If you are from the St. Louis, Missouri, metropolitan area, you probably know that "metro east" refers to the metropolitan area east of that city, including East St. Louis and Belleville, Illinois. Others may not know what this term refers to. The use of "metro east" in the article needs to be clarified.Dwhjr (talk) 00:41, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Linked it to clarify, thanks for bringing it up Ruhe1986 (talk) 01:52, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
