About that restaurant:

[edit]

Do you guys feel that people should know the name of the restaurant where Henry B. Gonzalez punched out that one guy in 1986 after being called a "communist"? I ask this question because it's a legendary establishment in the city of San Antonio and I was kinda wondering if that would change anything about its importance in the role in this interesting part of local history. Besides, maybe one day someone could craft a Wikipedia entry around the restaurant itself. Krushsister 05:47, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Patron Saint of San Antonio??

[edit]

The patron saint of San Antonio is, surprise, St. Anthony (San Antonio). I am taking out that line. Perhaps some less hyperbolic statement is in order. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasoncpetty (talkcontribs) 22:49, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The link at the end of this entry has expired.

Also, I wouldn't mind a link to, and articles on, the congressional inquiries and their findings. Quotes from Gonzalez, such as "[George Herber Walker] Bush and his advisers financed, equipped and succoured the monster [Saddam Hussein]" might spice it up somewhat. 1st Latino Congressman?

[edit]

Is he? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.235.94.254 (talk) 01:42, August 29, 2007 (UTC)

Joseph Marion Hernández was the first - I think HBG was the first from Texas, though. Kuru talk 01:50, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thirty-seven years in Congress

[edit]

Henry B. Gonzalez was very active on a number of important House Committees and served as Chairman on several of them. I would like to include this information in the article as I believe it may help demonstrate the significance of the contribution that he made to the House of Representatives during nearly four decades of service. Any assistance much appreciated, especially feedback, comment and review of my contributions to ensure that they are fair and reflect WP ethos as I am relatively new!
Inserted the full name, 'United States House Select Committee on Assassinations', and provided an internal link. I learnt that a Select or special committee performs a special function while a standing committee operates on an ongoing basis!

Henry B. GonzalezHenry B. González—Subject's official Congressional bio, match within article. http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=G000272. Dru of Id (talk) 03:51, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Don't move A quick google search shows that use of the accent mark is rare. I'd give the official bio a little bit more credit if he served in a Spanish-speaking country, but he doesn't. Also, Americans almost never include accent marks in the name Gonzales, no matter who it is, despite the prominence of Spanish speakers in the US.

Henry B. GonzalezHenry B. González – The only member of Congress with an accent in surname in Congressional Bio Directory that doesn't have one on WP. Also Library of Congress and the convention center named after him. Media and other websites are mixed. Star Garnet (talk) 21:14, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
