Governance

[edit]

" Citizens over the age of 16 may vote." I am not sure what this means. There is no such thing as an Isle of Man citizen. In general, the term used appears to be residents. For instance [1] says the following: "You can register to vote if you:

have returned your household registration form
are resident at the address stated on the form
have been resident for at least 12 months
are 16 years of age or older
are not subject to any legal incapacity to vote
you have not registered in more than one polling district

If you are away at university you can still register as your Manx address is considered your usual address."

[edit]

"... but provisions exist for dissolution before the expiration of the term." This sounds logical but is there a supporting reference?

Reorganising subnational legislature categories

[edit]

This article is listed under Category:Dependency legislatures. It is proposed to either merge this category with Category:Legislatures of subnational entities by reassigning the categories OR to make it a subcategory of 'Legislatures of subnational entities'. To contribute to the discussion, please go to: Category talk:Dependency legislatures Adz 08:11, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

actually, the more I think about it, I think it would be better just to make it a subcategory, because dependencies are a special type of subnational entity, and it would prevent the other category from getting cluttered in future.

General Formatting

[edit]

Much of the "History" section is poorly formatted/incomprehensible. I'm not knowledgeable enough to make all the needed changes here, but this article appears vandalized in some way to a casual reader. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.88.32.232 (talk) 02:15, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
