Ceauşescu's children

[edit]

This article is a complete whitewash. Romania has one of the worst human rights records in Europe, considering their treatment of orphans, the mentally ill, and the physically challenged. A society is judged by how it treats its least fortunate, and Romania has failed the test. Viriditas (talk) 06:20, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No Virditas is incorrect. Upon Romania's accession to the European Union Romania had to transform its welfare system to up to European standards. Romania's rappetour Baroness Emma Nicholson has hailed such progress within 10 years.

Here I provide the source: The New Romanian Orphans

Second Source: Following the closure of old-style orphanages, Romania chooses family-type alternative solutions.....

Now since I have provided valid sources to counteract Viriditas incorrect claims. It is best to ignore the ignorance and misinformation of Viriditas. Romania has obviously passed the test in which the EU gave Romania otherwise Romania would not have joined the EU in 2007.Pryde 01 (talk) 09:38, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Viriditas my mother went to Romania in 2008 to see the changes for herself on a business trip, my mum was very impressed with the changes. I went to Romania just last year with some Romanian friends of mine to see if such changes had taken place and I was amazed by such changes within 15 years of the reform process. The reform process is still continuing but so much has been reformed and fixed the issues are minor and can be fixed with more effort. I can tell you right now, the Romanian welfare system is nothing in a million years of what it was like in the 80s when my mum went there.Pryde 01 (talk) 10:07, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First off, I think that it is really good to see a page on this topic. I think your page has a lot of potential but needs a lot more information. Can you go into more historical detail about Romania's shift away from communism? Can you discuss the human rights during communism compared to after communism? Can you discuss the gypsy population more? Can you discuss the orphan population more? Lhughes7 (talk) 20:38, 3 September 2015 (UTC) LHughes7[reply]
