We need more stories of the landmark cases that his bench sat on. Steel Mill case, Stock Exchange case - numerous suo moto actions. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.2.140.190 (talk) 15:44, 9 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Place of birth

[edit]

In first paragraph, place of birth is claimed to be Quetta and later in biography section, it is mentioned as Faisalabad. Isn't that a discrepancy. To my best knowledge, it is Quetta. So can someone please provide any reference to Faisalabad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.8.213.57 (talk) 15:11, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reference against Justice is current event and has many dimensions. I purpose a separate page, which describes reason behind this action, details of reference, his suspension, its outcome and composition of Supreme Judicial Council and it affect on judicial system of Pakistan. I think new page should be named as “Presidential Reference”, if possible we should have some name after Presidential Reference, such as Year or if there is number attached with Reference. We can also link this new page with Musharraf, as he is party to whole event. He started things off and its outcome will determine his future. --Spasage 10:24, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree so strongly that in a few moments, I'm going to be BOLD and just do it. The timeline is taking up too much space in the main article, leaving no room for encyclopedic information giving context the suspension. Also, most of the WP:NPOV and WP:VERIFY problems seem to be in the timeline; perhaps being on a single-purpose page will make those issues easier to clean up. -- LisaSmall T/C 18:46, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The page now exists at Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry (suspension). I chose that name instead of the "Presidential Reference" you suggested, to be more in line with standard Wikipedia protocols for names of articles. Musharraf is (or will be) linked to the article by wikilinks of his name in the text. -- LisaSmall T/C 15:23, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't Suspension of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry be a better article name? AndrewRT(Talk) 18:10, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Made Few Changes

[edit]

I have made few cosmetic changes to the page. Added few references and still looking for complete text of Presedential Reference Rana Mansoor Akbar Khan 19:39, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also edited the page a bit, added a cite to an english-language version of the reference. It'd be nice to find a more official site than a blog to cite to. Thoughts? sunbird 11:45, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources/Neutral PoV

[edit]

The section "Missing People" is a) not verified by sources and b) contains breaches of teh neutral PoV: This also serves to demonstrate that the suspension of the Chief Justice was effected by Pervez Musharraf in order to further American neo-colonial interests in Pakistan

That is not verified by accepted research, nor is it in any way a neutral view on US/Pakistan relations. 87.123.156.33 10:24, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article does not, in any way, take a neutral point of view. It needs to be thoroughly rewritten. The authors of this article blindly consider the Chief Justice a hero, and the Former President a villain. It also adds story-like details as found in fiction, not in news publications. I have erased a few, but, again, it needs to be completely rewritten.

Karachi Riots

[edit]

This article is definitely not neutral in its discussion of the recent bloodshed on Karachi soil. A simple search of google news, al jazeera, or bbc news would show viewpoints that are markedly more neutral and open minded about the source of the violence and bloodshed.

This article requires serious clean up to meet wikipedia standards.

Please do not add any statements to this biography unless they have been thoroughly researched and cited. Thank you. Chantoke 22:52, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Users such as Khalidkhoso keep making changes to this article that make no sense or are highly POV ot lack sources. Someone should take charge of this article and clean it up. Zaindy87 03:39, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The sections you reference now exist at Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry (suspension). I strongly agree with you re cleanup and NPOV problems there. -- LisaSmall T/C 15:23, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hero

[edit]
moved from article:

Most, people I talked to recently said that he is as bad or worse than the current leadership. People seem to have lost faith in the revolution that the media and his legal team were promising.

I think we should be more careful declaring people as heroes.Justice Chaudary was submitting fake claims for reimbursement of petrol that was never purchased by him, similarly he was claiming house rent by declaring his official residence as his camp office,he also submitted a fake affidavit to get a plot in a federal government scheme that he was not entitled to.He also used government funds to purchase two Honda Accord cars that he gave to his wife and son,in both these cars irregular petrol was being drawn against official cars of the court by entering fake numbers with the petrol pump. His lust for cars saw no end,he forced the Punjab Chief Minister to present a brand new Mercedes car to him.is this how we select our heroes.

Supreme Court's reinstating of Chaudhry

[edit]

Are the last observations in the recent edits re the Court's ruling supported by the references? Dogru144 14:39, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I revised an existing summary section after actually reading the short order of the court and some of the Pakistani & New York Times press accounts. Removed NPOV tone and added cites. Still could be better, though. -- LisaSmall T/C 18:46, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New section regarding second suspension -- NPOV -- Sources.

[edit]

It's new, and it seems to not cite sources, and seems to be non NPOV. It sounds like a condemnation of Musharaffs actions, and that's not for wikipedia to decide. I'm sticking the current event and citations templates there, and if others agree with me, the NPOV template can be added. --Fshy 17:00, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, someone is writing terribly. Now, I know that not everyone is fluent in English, but if you aren't, post here in the talk page, and let someone else edit it before posting in the main. Adding quality template, much as I hate adding more than two templates to a section. Furthermore, I have yet to see a single source. Unless someone produces one, I am going to remove a good deal of the section.

EDIT: Ok, someone added a source to the area, which is good, but doesn't cover a good deal of the other concerns. It really doesn't address the areas which need to be cited; mostly the odd details which are unrefenced, such as the particular military division which did what, and etc. I'm still keeping the templates up. --Fshy 21:14, 3 November 2007 (UTC) they only one man chief justice iftikhar Chaudhry best best best man imandar man cjIc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.185.241.221 (talk) 22:55, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Alright enough of the silly edits, I havent even bothered editing this article and clearing it up because I'm tired of it so for all those who edit the article claiming he's still the Chief Justice of Pakistan and putting "current" "legal" "constitutional" etc in this article, kindly reply back in this page with LEGAL and LOGICAL reasons as to how he is the current Chief Justice.

Removing Javed Iqbal and Rana Bhagwandas as Acting CJ

[edit]

Please note that during suspension of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, both Justice Iqbal and Justice Bhagwandas were only acting CJ. The CJ even at that time was still Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. This is not what only I am saying even Javed Iqbal said it. This observation was made by Justice Iqbal during the Judicial Trial of the Chief Justice Chaudhry.

Restored by President of Pakistan and NOT by Prime Minister

[edit]

Where as PM Yousaf Raza Gillani did announce the restoration of CJ and other judges, but the OFFICIAL restoration was done by President through the executive order. That is why Asif Ali Zardari is being listed as "Restored By". Please see these Sites

[edit]

I havent changed much in the content except for reference of ansar abbasi in controversies, but I have tried to bundle up this scattered article to bring up some flow in the events that happened. Defacto vs Dejouro wasn't fitting up with the article as a separate heading, after all it is a controversial issue so added it up under controversies. removed few external promotional links too. I can still find a lot of them but scared of removing something valuable. If somebody get time to wash that up, that would be nice. Sarmadhassan (talk) 17:38, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is a serious injustice prevalent in Pakistan judicial system wherein people are sent to prisons subsequent to FIR. The commencement of trial and its progress at snail's pace is extremely painful. There are so many of prisoners who end up being in jail for years and finally getting declared innocent by the court. Isn't it shameful? This is particularly unjust on the part of the person who claims to be the savior of the nation-the Chief JBold textustice. He would take what he likes to try to put the executives actions in order. Would he like to put his own house in order first? I suggest Chief Justice should take such measures to stop this injustice and also ensure that judges finalize the cases speedily. Isn'nt is illegal to keep a person in jail who subsequently is declared innocent? Why should someone be kept in jail without the proof of having commit ted a crime? The system should be such that after FIR, investigation should start fast, the accused stays free, faces trial and if proved criminal then gets the punishment.
