Fair use rationale for Image:In the absence of truth.jpg
[edit]Image:In the absence of truth.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:34, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

GA nomination
[edit]I'm failing this album's GA nomination for the following reasons:
- You should probably trim the professional reviews part of the album template a bit. Only fairly major publications should be included (if it doesn't have a wikilink, it probably isnt notable enough).
- also in the album template, there should be an m-dash in between the recorded dates.
- Live and remix albums aren't included in the chronology section of the template. Skip back to Panopticon
- The album picture is very large for a supposed fair use image. Consider reducing the size a bit.
- "came under fire in several areas" -- sounds too cliché
- punctuation needs to be included inside quotations (i.e. "but one the band perfected with their 2002 album Oceanic," and...)
- Billboard is a magazine, so it should be italicized whenever it appears in the article.
- "Allmusic" should be "All Music Guide".
- Mention the chart positions of the album in the "Reception" section rather than make a chart for two entries.
- Even though they're wikilinked in the lead, you should wikilink important terms like Isis and Panopticon in the body as well.
- Take out the "(see 2006 in music)"
- Mention the record label in the lead.
- Don't link to stuff like article scans in your references. It's an illegal practice for the scanner, and wikipedia shouldn't link to it. It's OK to have a reference that lacks a url.
- More information is needed for the Q Magazine reference. At minimum, we need a title and an author. Simply taking the issue number from Metacritic isn't enough.
Now, these are rather nitpicky things, and I would just place the article on hold if those were my only concerns. However, there's one huge thing missing from the article: a recording section. The article immediately jumps into a "reception" section, but mentions nothing about the recording process for the album. Where was it recorded? For how long? Was there a lot/not much overdubbing? When was the album announced? Also, you should mention anything that the band did to promote the album, such as a promotional tour. These are major things that are critical for any encyclopedic article on an album, so I'm going to have to fail this one. Best wishes on improving the article. Teemu08 04:04, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
- In response to the album cover thing, I honestly don't care, and wouldn't fail an article because of it. However, other people do care, and it would probably help your chances with a separate reviewer. Teemu08 02:44, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Removed reviews from album template
[edit]As per GA fail, I'm not going to delete these reviews per se, but they don't really have a place in the article. Sod.

[edit]Stick this in there someday:
- "Although in my own approximation and many others, the band’s 2006 album In the Absence of Truth may have been [Isis'] one stumbling block."
