Copyediting: Remaining problems

[edit]

I've just finished a first pass at copyediting. Many problems remain:

  1. While I tidied up the first few references and provided publisher information and the like, I gave up in the middle of the article. This is because:
  2. The vast majority of references are primary sources. Secondary sources are scarce. I couldn't find the widely cited book Annuaire 2011 - 50 ans d'histoire, apparently published by the alumni association, in the catalogues of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, which is an indication that it's not a reliable source (and if it's indeed published by the alumni association it's not a secondary source anyway). The sources cited in the section From creation to integration into IONIS Education group for the founders do not say what we cite them for. I didn't check many of the other references, and someone speaking French would be better suited to the task than I am.
  3. The article suffered from severe overlinking. I removed many redundant wikilinks, but I'm pretty sure I missed some others.
  4. Many of the "notable" people did not have their own articles: An indication that they aren't notable after all. I removed the least notable ones, but I have doubts about some of the remaining ones, too.
  5. I had no idea what one sentence was supposed to say: "The particularity of the university is to offer from the first year lessons relating to aeronautics in addition to basic scientific education and to provide a large part in project-based teaching throughout the curriculum." It should probably say that a large part of the teaching provided throughout the curriculum is project-based (and I reworded it to that effect), but I might be wrong. It's unreferenced anyway, and it should probably removed entirely.

In summary, I don't think the article is anywhere near good article status, and the poor references are by far the greatest hindrance. Huon (talk) 01:00, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I support this opinion and started trying to fix some of the issues above.— Racconish Tk 08:17, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming

[edit]

I suggest renaming the article as the French one, according to the French capitalization rules : Institut polytechnique des sciences avancées. — Racconish Tk 08:15, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was sharing your opinion but I found information and on the English Wikipedia it's Institut Polytechnique des Sciences Avancées. That's the rule, for example, I have created the article Commission nationale de la certification professionnelle which has been recently renamed Commission Nationale de la Certification Professionnelle. 80.13.85.217 (talk) 08:43, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
