Explanation for merge

[edit]

The WWF ecoregions are not widely used by ecologists, unlike physiographic regions. This article, while titled "Central U.S. Hardwoods", was really talking about all the various natural communities (including barrens, prairies) of the Interior Low Plateaus. There is no need to be boxed into the WWF definition of this ecoregion; this region deserves its own page to show the various communities (both forested and non-forested) as modern ecologists understand it. Hardwood forests of the Interior Low Plateaus would be a fine spin-off page, however, as long as it is talking about that specific natural community (which is restricted primarily to hillier sections of this region), and not as an ecoregion.Masebrock (talk) 20:35, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are more than welcome to have this article but I plan to undo the merge. It makes no sense not to cover the WWF definition as it was in the old article (it may well be overlapping but its still its own thing). The WWF obviously covers a broader region just by looking at the maps, and the other article is needed to go along with the other WWF articles.
