To get a B rating this will at least need some pictures and tables. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:50, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with "Bimaristan" and "Dar al-Shifa" pages

[edit]

This article has good material, but there is another pre-existing page on "Bimaristan" which covers the same subject (and already linked to at the top). I propose the two should be merged; either "Bimaristan" into this one, or vice-versa.
For my own view: this page has more material but I do think "Bimaristan" would be a better page title, as "Islamic hospitals" is a slightly sketchy title because it could imply at first glance (for English-speaking readers unfamiliar with the subject) that there is a principled difference between "Islamic" hospitals and other hospitals today, which is not really true; whereas this topic refers to the historical medical institutions in the Islamic world, for which (bi)maristan was the usual name (and a lot of English literature uses that term to denote these institutions). That said, I think any merge either way will still be very helpful.
I'm not experienced with executing page mergers myself but it would be great to get a discussion going on if and how to proceed. Cheers, Robert Prazeres (talk) 22:12, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Added proposed merger template, proposing merger into Bimaristan article. Robert Prazeres (talk) 20:17, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely merge Dar al-Shifa into the combined article! Now we have 3 (three!) articles covering the exact same topic. If there is any distinction, it's not being made clear on any of the 3 pages. Arminden (talk) 11:11, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good spotting, thanks. Maybe if I get some idle time in next few weeks of coronovirus shutdown, I'll try to merge all these articles lol.Robert Prazeres (talk) 16:48, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update: I am going to go ahead with the merger of this page with Bimaristan, as it's been long enough. I haven't done mergers often so I'm not as sure about how to properly merge talk pages, so feel free to look for any mistakes. Technically, though, I now realize that all discussion should have been on the Bimaristan talk page only. Robert Prazeres (talk) 18:16, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please add autodirect for singular form

[edit]

"Islamic hospital". Thanks. Arminden (talk) 11:28, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done. PS: If you spot something like that again in the future, you can make quick redirects here. Robert Prazeres (talk) 16:52, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
