Hello, I have updated the Ivers Whitney Adams site, with the necessary references. Thank you.

You still don't know the difference between the various Boston ball clubs. Nor are the references sufficient. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 16:12, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Mr. or Mrs. Baseball Bugs,

I have done my research and found out the the Boston Red Stockings were one of the very first professional baseball teams in the country, and part of the 1871 newly founded "National Association of PROFESSIONAL Base Ball Players", the first professional baseball organization in the United States. The "National Association of Professional Base Ball Players" began in 1871...and continues to this day. The American League started 25 years later in 1901. Although the Boston Red Sox are a part of the American League today, it does not negate the fact that Iver Whitney Adams and the other visionaries/colleagues of his day created Boston professional baseball in 1871 when they founded the Boston Red Stockings by bringing Harry Wright and his "professional" players from Cincinnati. We are talking about the one major professional baseball team in the city of Boston. Ivers Whitney Adams was the sole financial and philisophical force behind the organization of this solid team. This included being created and designed smartly as well as being continually supported financially in this city. Nothing existed before. There was no lull. Some of the names were different, some of the leagues were different due to growth and time, but the fact exists that this man was a visionary for his time and needs to be credited.

Please tell me why the references are not sufficient in your view. Thanks. User:riceflan Riceflan (talk) 03:04, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is Mr. Bugs, as Mrs. Bugs is away on assignment. It appears that this guy Adams did exist and that he provided the financial backing for the Boston Red Stockings in 1871 when the NAPBBP (not the NABBP) was founded. He had no connection of any kind with the Boston Red Sox. The Boston Red Stockings exist today as the Atlanta Braves. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 03:15, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
