Can this be expanded into its own page? Since Jacobi matrices are an important topic on its own, see e.g. http://www.mat.univie.ac.at/~gerald/ftp/book-jac/index.html And adding, what a Jacobi matrix is to the orthonormal polynomail article would require making it several times its length. I'm sure there is much to say about Jacobi matrices, and you're very welcome indeed to write on it. Probably the best would be to start a new article with a name like Jacobi matrix (orthogonal polynomials) or Jacobi operator (to distinguish it from "Jacobi matrix" as the matrix of partial derivatives), and then to change the second point in this article, Jacobi matrix, to point to your new article. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 10:08, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
