This is very misleading. Othodox Sunni muslims ie those who ascribe to one of the 4 schools of thought, and follow the theology of either the Athari,Ashari,or maturidi, these are the branches of Sunni orthodoxy and all of them consider Jahmites as a deviant sect for negating Gods atributes and denying the Quran is the uncreated speech of Allah. Ill round up the requisite citations and will be returning shortly to fix this error. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FB90:3250:426A:92A7:EA32:E1DF:CB0A (talk) 15:53, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fringe claim

[edit]

Removed what appears to be a fringe claim. Jahm bin Safwan and his followers, the Jahmiyya, were adherents of apophatic theology- they primarily based their understanding of God on negations. They were different from and opposed to the Ahl al-Ra'y, the Asharis and Maturidis, who are adherents of rational theology- they primarily based their understanding of God on reason, or Ra'y. Therefore, it would be rather farfetched to assert that Jahm produced the modus operandi of a theological group opposed to him- such an assertion requires ample evidence from neutral sources. Furthermore, remember that Ibn Taymiyyah and his followers accuse the Ahl al-Ra’y, i.e. the Asharis and Maturidis, of following Jahm- so it could be possible that sources that merely state this accusation without critically analyzing them cannot be cited, even if they themselves are from neutral entities. 2402:8100:24CC:2338:C4E2:C29E:3CFF:B164 (talk) 06:22, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
