I think it contains too much information, it seems more like a CV
Notable?
[edit]This entry does not appear to meet WP:ACADEMIC for the notability of professors. I already removed a bunch of purely promotional material (long lists of articles and conference presentations and the like). I googled around a bit and didn't see any notability on the rest of the information, but am going to leave it for now. But, at least at first glance, this looks like a ripe candidate for deletion.Steal the Kosher Bacon (talk) 16:42, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
- Looked around some more. Found his UCLA page and CV -- http://www.history.ucla.edu/faculty/james-gelvin, http://www.history.ucla.edu/sites/default/files/cv.doc. Don't see anything that meets the notability criteria for academics. No "significant impact". No "highly prestigious academic award or honor at a national or international level." Not a "member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association". His "academic work has NOT made a significant impact in the area of higher education." Does not hold "a named chair appointment or distinguished professor appointment at a major institution of higher education". Does not hold a "highest-level elected or appointed administrative post at a major academic institution". Has not "made substantial impact outside academia in their academic capacity." Is not " the head or chief editor of a major, well-established academic journal."
- Anyone see a reason not to delete this article?Steal the Kosher Bacon (talk) 16:31, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
