Re-assessment Suggestion
[edit]Since it was classified as C-Class in July 2008 this article has been edited about 200 times and has been expanded from 14k bytes to nearly 41k. Perhaps it's time for a re-assessment. I have removed the C classification in the hope that someone from WikiProject Western Australia or WikiProject Australian History (the projects that have marked the article as of high importance) will be willing to make a re-assessment.Apuldram (talk) 13:04, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- This is borderline B class. The lede needs to be expanded, the images in the body should be thumbnails and have captions, and it needs a good copy-edit. For instance, citations come after the punctuation, not before (see the WP:MOS), and most of the early footnotes do not follow this rule. Aboutmovies (talk) 03:48, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your suggestions for improvement. The lede has now been expanded and captions have been added to the images. Apuldram (talk) 13:46, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
Cartoon of Thomas Hay and Stirling
[edit]I have removed the cartoon of Thomas Hay and James Stirling, as its relevance to the article is unclear. Nor is it clear who Thomas Hay was. The cartoon can be replaced together with an explanation of why it is included, supported by a reliable source. Apuldram (talk) 18:02, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
Also, the print is dated 1796, when James Stirling (Royal Navy officer) was five years old, and the James Stirling depicted in the etching had for the second time (!) held the office of Provost two years earlier. Clearly a completely different James Stirling. Apuldram (talk) 19:21, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

- James Stirling (Royal Navy officer) → James Stirling
- James Stirling → James Stirling (disambiguation)
– The naval officer is the WP:PRIMARY TOPIC and has the most long term significance having been the first Governor of Western Australia. He comes in second in terms of pageviews behind the more recent James Stirling (architect), though the architect could be mentioned in a hatnote (see the Joe Walsh page for the hatnote example). Also pageviews aren’t everyting for example james stirling western australia gets about 35,000 results on scholar with james stirling architect getting about 24,000 results. Sahaib3005 (talk) 21:00, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose, no WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. They seem about equivalent in significance nowadays.--Ortizesp (talk) 19:28, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. No clear primary topic as far as I can see. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:44, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
