Did anyone notice that the first words are "Casper Francis Jropsey", instead of "Jasper Francis Cropsey"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.151.39.99 (talk) 13:06, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Could someone please add an example of one of his "autumn landscapes that startled viewers with their boldness and brilliance"? 174.24.23.71 (talk) 15:01, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In the "Career" section it states, "Cropsey and his wife Maria are buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, New York and he added a studio.". If he is a pronoun for Cropsey then it seems amazing he added a studio "after" he was buried. Otr500 (talk) 00:24, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jasper Francis Cropsey

Jasper Francis Cropsey (1823–1900) was an American landscape artist, part of a movement known as the Hudson River School. Cropsey was trained as an architect, and worked on Manhattan brownstones, the since-demolished 14th Street station for the IRT Sixth Avenue Line in Manhattan, and St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Staten Island. In addition to architecture, Cropsey also studied watercolor painting and figure drawing, exhibiting his work at the National Academy of Design from 1844. In 1866, he opened a studio in New York, specializing in autumnal landscape paintings of the northeastern United States, often idealized and with vivid colors. Cropsey co-founded, with ten fellow artists, the American Society of Painters in Water Colors in 1866. He is seen here in a circa-1870 photograph by American lithographer and photographer Napoleon Sarony.
