Image of Borneo elephant

[edit]

RogerNiceEyes added an image of the Borneo elephant to the article. I have edited the image caption to indicate a possible connection of the Borneo elephant to the Javan elephant. However, I am uncomfortable with using the Borneo elephant image in this article, as any connection between the two within the last 300,000 years is unproven, however intriguing the possibility is. On the other hand, I have not found any images of the extinct Javan elephant. There are some images from the 19th century and later of elephants in Java, but I'm pretty sure those elephants were imported from the mainland of Asia. - Donald Albury 20:37, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My vote if for not including images of other elephant species, even if they are possible descendants of the Javan elephant. AuH2ORepublican (talk) 21:19, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Since the Javan elephant was described on basis of a carving in Borobodur, it would probably be more appropriate to show an image of a statue there. -- BhagyaMani (talk) 22:02, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
