GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

Hi. I will be reviewing the Javine Hylton article. Please give me a couple of hours to read through the article and collect my thoughts. I usually print the article out and go over it with a pencil, and write my notes on paper before typing them up, so please be patient. I'll post my review and any comments when I'm done. Regards, Matthewedwards :  Chat  19:32, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
and remains her biggest hit to date. phrases such as "currently", "as of" and "to date" are likely to age and should be avoided. Can the sentence be recast?
The remainder of the prose doesn't really meet the Good article criteria. There are one- or two-sentence paragraphs, structural errors, etc. It needs a really good copy edit to improve
    B. MoS compliance:
Please see WP:OVERLINK. It isn't necessary to link common terms, words, places, such as London, English, singer, UK, model, Kiev, white British, black people, etc etc
Avoid WP:WEASEL words, such as In a potentially risky move --
Avoid WP:PEACOCK terms, such as biggest hit
'wardrobe malfunction' should be in double quotes
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
There are many sentences that are tagged as needing citations
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
Generally, tabloid newspapers such as The Sun, The Mirror, News of the World, and Now magazine are not considered reliable sources. I'm not satisfied that http://www.ilikemusic.com/music_news/-496 is a reliable source either.
    C. No original research:
Too much of the article is unreferenced, so much of it may be WP:OR
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
It would be interesting to read how she performed in Popstars, and what songs she sung. The same for Eurovision. The article merely glances at what she's done, without really going into any depth. See Clay Aiken as a good example of what should be included.
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
    The image needs Alt text
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
Due to the fact that the article is tagged in numerous places with {{citation needed}}, the article does not meet the GA criteria, and has been "quick failed". I did conduct a review anyway, so hopefully editors will be able to use this GAN as an opportunity to improve the article. Good luck, Matthewedwards :  Chat  22:05, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For the record the article was nominated by a sockpuppet of a blocked user so I am not too surprised it failed. Thanks for the review anyway. Camaron · Christopher · talk 10:46, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
