Hoisanese, Cantonese

Transcriptions
Standard Mandarin
Hanyu PinyinWáng Yùtíng

She is ancestrally from Taishan (like many North American Chinese), so her name should also be rendered in Hoisanese (Taishan sub-dialect; "zh-yue-toi") and Cantonese (Taishan is in Guangdong Province, and Guangdong dialect is called Cantonese "zh-yue"). Canadian born Chinese typically use Wade-Giles romanization, so that should also be added. -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 05:28, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for raising these points. I’ve added the Wade-Giles transliteration but must admit I’m not versed enough to generate the other dialectic transliterations mentioned. Any assistance in this area would be most appreciated. – Spitzmauskc (talk) 15:53, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wong’s citizenship

[edit]

Any claims regarding Wong becoming a Chinese citizen and renouncing her Canadian citizenship – dual Chinese citizenship is not possible – will need a highly credible source. It is possible that the North Americans on the Chinese national team roster have obtained passports from Taiwan or Hong Kong(1), however I haven’t found any publications that touch the topic of citizenship since the final roster was announced. If such a reference is located, please add it to this article and I will be happy to update bios for other North American players on Team China. There's also Macau... -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 03:44, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
