The result of the move request was: moved to Jim Davis (basketball player). Almost everyone agrees that the current title needs to change as "Jim Davis (basketball)" can refer to Jim Davis the basketball player or Jim Davis the coach. Of those, most agree to Jim Davis (basketball player) and no one seems to have objected to this title. The title with birth year is opposed for now. This is also supported by #2 at WP:NCBASKETBALL; but I agree with 力 that further disambiguation might be needed in the future.
Support some move, the titles suggested by Adumbrativus may be ambiguous if both have coached and played but the articles doesn't indicate this. The 1941 one gets 57 views compared with 20[[1]] for the coach so likely no case for a PADB. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:19, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose as unnecessary. "Basketball" is the usual disambiguator, and when that's been used, "coach". I've added {{distinguish}} hatnotes to each article to avoid any possible confusion, which isn't that likely anyway. Birth years are discouraged by WP:NCP, because readers are not likely to know that in advance, and it's even less useful when both people are born relatively close together.
