This article has been changed incorrectly. He was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and did play as an amateur for Bishop Auckland before moving to Arsenal. Date of birth is correct. He also played for Whitley Bay before Bishop Auckland. He played for England Youth as well as getting an England Under 23 cap. Some of this can be viewed on the LMA site which is linked from the page. He is a relative of mine.
