Contradictions

[edit]

The article on John C. Pritzlaff, Jr. says he was born in 1925 to John C. Pritzlaff. The obituary at Saddle Horse Report seems to support this, saying Pritzlaff Jr. was born to "John C. Pritzlaff Sr." and "Elinor Gallun Pritzlaff" . The assertion that John C. Pritzlaff, Jr. is the son of the subject of this Wikipedia article ("John. C. Pritzlaff") cannot be correct, as the Memoirs of Milwaukee County, cited on this article says "John. C. Pritzlaff" died in 1900, and the memoirs say "John. C. Pritzlaff" of this article was married to Sophia Christiana Bluhme. I could use some help figuring out how John C. Pritzlaff, Jr. was related to the John C. Pritzlaff of this article. I further note that John C. Pritzlaff, Jr.'s obituary calls the hardware company he worked at a "four generation" family business by the time he took over. Altamel (talk) 02:21, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just realizing there are a number of people who are referred to as Jr and Sr that spanned more generations than I was aware of and I got them mixed up. I will remove the reference. apologies. MilkweedPods (talk) 02:31, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's not the source that's the problem; it's the statement that Jr.'s father founded the hardware company. The founder of the hardware company, John C. Pritzlaff (1820-1900), died 25 years before John C. Pritzlaff, Jr. (1925–2005) was born. Moreover John C. Pritzlaff's article says he had four children: Elizabeth (1845-1916), Mathilda (1855-1857), Louis (1858-1872), and Fred (1861-1951), but no John Jr. The founder could not possibly have been Jr.'s father. The statement ("he was the vice-president and general manager of the John Pritzlaff Hardware Company founded by his father, John C. Pritzlaff.") isn't based on the source, but on leaping to conclusions, also known as original research. I'm tagging it as dubious until the relationship of Jr. to the founder can be determined via an explicit reliable source. 32.218.33.251 (talk) 03:35, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The IP is correct, I hadn't noticed that part about JCP Jr.'s father being the founder. Based on the obituary, John C. Pritzlaff's father was John C. Pritzlaff Sr., but not the John C. Pritzlaff the subject of this article due to dates. I'm going to put than in Jr's article and make it clear.Altamel (talk) 03:54, 13 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He worked as a teamster???

[edit]

Under the early life section it states "He worked as a teamster and a cook" by teamster does he mean he was a member of the teamster union? or is teamster a occupation? Peace4love (talk) 01:20, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
